Winter Post-Visit Projects and Extensions
1. Tricky Tracks Indoor Activity from Naturescope’s Amazing Mammals
I (Objective 4, 6)
In the first part of the activity, students will learn to recognize the tracks
of several different Ohio mammals and their habits and behavior. In the second
part, students will use this knowledge to answer questions and solve mysteries
left in a snow scene.
OR
Schoolyard Habitat and Bait board Outdoor
Activity (Objective 4, 8)
Students will investigate their school environment in teams for wildlife and
answer the question, “Is
your school a habitat for animals?” Teams will make a hypothesis about
where they might find
wildlife and then test their hypothesis. Classes can use bait boards to see
tracks of animals that visit
schoolyard at night.
2. “Who Am I?” Riddle
Activity (Objectives 3, 4, 6)
Students identify local wildlife and their habitat by analyzing clues that
describe their adaptations and behaviors. See attached information.
Spring Post-Visit Projects and Extensions
“To Have or Not To Have” is an adapted activity from Project Learning Tree. Students will demonstrate knowledge of the effects of human and natural activity in their neighborhood park. See attached instructions. (Objective 5, 7)
