Program Focus: A neighborhood school using America's Choice Curriculum
Located at the corner of Bruce and Haight, Parker Woods is a beautiful 57 acre forest. Somewhat steep terrain, no bathrooms or water fountain.
Kirby Road Elementary /Parker’s Woods
School Focus: A neighborhood school using the Co-Nect (New American Schools) curriculum model.
Located at the corner of Bruce and Haight, Parker Woods is a beautiful 57 acre forest. From school, walk east on Bruce 2 blocks. Bruce dead ends at park. Meet naturalists on sidewalk. Somewhat steep terrain, no bathrooms or water fountain.
Schwab School / Parker’s Woods
School Focus: A neighborhood school using the Direct Instruction curriculum model
Parker Woods is a beautiful 57 acre forest, located right next to school. Meet naturalists in parking lot. Somewhat steep terrain, no bathrooms or water fountain.
Quebec Heights Elementary / Glenway Woods
School Focus: A neighborhood school
Glenway Woods is a beautiful 30 acre forest with steep access trail, located right next to school. Meet naturalists in front of school. Steep terrain, very muddy when it rains, no bathrooms.
Vine Elementary / Inwood Park
School Focus: A neighborhood school
Inwood Park, located on Vine Street north of the school, has a small woods edge, meadow and pond, 20 acres. No access to bathrooms or water fountains. Steep sidewalks.
Corryville Catholic School / Inwood Park
School Focus: A neighborhood school
Inwood Park, located on Vine Street south of the school, has a small woods edge, meadow and pond, 20 acres. There are bathrooms and water fountains in season. Steep sidewalks.
Bramble School /Bramble Park/Little Duck Creek
School Focus: A neighborhood school
Bramble Park is located on Bramble, east of Homer, one block from school. Nice 10 acre park with creek, floodplain and woods. No bathrooms or water fountains, mostly flat terrain, muddy.
Clifton School / Rawson Woods
School Focus: A neighborhood school
Rawson Woods, located at corner of Middleton and McAlpin Ave, is a bird preserve, closed to the public. At 10 acres, it has a nice woods and creek. Steep terrain, no trails, prepare to go through heavy brush, very muddy when rains.
Winton Place Academy / Winton Commons
School Focus: A neighborhood school using the Direct Instruction curriculum model
Winton Commons, located at the corner of Hand and North Edgewood Avenues, has a nice woods with a variety of trees and birds (12 acres). From school, walk up Hand to the park. No bathrooms or water fountains. Prepare to go off trail (long pants, sturdy shoes).
Windsor School / Eden Park
School Focus: A neighborhood school using the American’s Choice curriculum model
Eden Park, located a few blocks from the school, is a large 186 acre park with overlooks, woods and open areas. From the school, go south on St. James Ave, left on Nassau, right on Luray. Meet at Twin Lakes (Luray Avenue) in Eden Park. Be prepared to go off trail (long pants, sturdy shoes). May bring lunch and have picnic at Twin Lakes if they wish (come early or plan to stay late so they don’t cut into program time).
Whittier School /Dempsey Park/Glenway Park
School Focus: A neighborhood school using the Roots and Wings (New American Schools) curriculum model
Dempsey Park, located behind school, is a 7 acre recreational area with some large trees and a grassy lawn. Glenway Park, located a few blocks from the school at Glenway Avenue between Considine and Purcell, is only 3 acres, but somewhat more natural. No bathrooms or water fountains at either park.
