Fall Post-Visit Projects and Extensions
1. Dichotomous Leaf Keys. Gather
more leaves or trade collected leaves from Fall visit
and continue classification activity. (Objective 4)
2. Leaf Chromatography. (Use scientific
method). Have class collect some leaves (~ 12) from
different trees (some green, some different colors). Instructions are given
in post-visit packet.

Winter Post-Visit Projects and Extensions
Mystery Seed Keys. Students receive a mystery seed (with all
necessary materials) to
plant and nurture. As the plants grow, students make observations and keep
a plant
journal. When their plants are five weeks old, they use a plant key developed
for this
activity to determine the identity of their mystery seed. See attached information.

Spring Post-Visit Projects and Extension
1. Tree Height Measurement. Students compute heights of their adopted trees from clinometer readings.
2. Tree Treasures.
Students actively participate in a “What Am I” game to learn the
numerous products provided by trees and classify them into categories.
(Objective 3, 6)
